Day 1: arrival Dar-es-salaam/ Selous

On arrival at the Airport, you will meet our driver cum guide with a placard in hand written your names. He will help you load your luggage into our safari jeep. You will then drive all the way south to Selous game reserve.

It will take approximately 4 to 5 hours’ drive to reach the Hippo Campsite in Selous or Selous Butembo lodge and campsite (http://selousbutembo.co.tz/), where you will have your lunch.  In case there is time to spare in the afternoon, you will have a Boat ride up the Great Rufiji River, stay to watch the sun drop and return in the evening for dinner and overnight at Hippo Campsite (http://www.hippocampselous.com/) or Selous Butembo lodge and campsite (http://selousbutembo.co.tz/)

Embracing 54,000 square km of south-western Tanzania, Selous Game Reserve is one of the largest protected wilderness reserve on the African continent, three times larger than the Serengeti. Named after the legendary 19th century explorer and hunter Frederick Courtney Selous, the reserve was founded by the German colonial administration in 1905. It was later expanded to include traditional elephant migration routes and accommodate the vast herds of buffalo that roam this remote, untouched corner of Africa.

Day 2: Full day Selous/ overnight selous

Have a game drive at the Selous Game reserve where you will be able to move about freely, the guides will readily show you another dimension of the African wildlife like none seen before. They will distinctively explain everything as per your requirement. Day 3: Selous/ Kisaki (North Western Selous)

After breakfast you will drive to Western Selous with a game drive en route. Arrive at Kisaki Buffalo Camp, this camp overlooks the Uluguru Mountains and it is set up near the village of Kisaki and the Matambwe Gate, the North- western gate to the Reserve. On this day you will enjoy Game Drives to the Hot Springs and the Grave of Frederick Courtney Selous as well as Walking Safaris to Kisaki Village as a cultural trip. Return for dinner and overnight at Ndovu lodge.

Day 4: Selous/ Udzungwa via Uluguru Mountains

Drive to Udzungwa via Uluguru Mountains. Dinner and overnight at Udzungwa Mountain View Lodge (http://www.authentictanzania.com/accomodation/southern-tanzania/udzungwa-mtns-national-park/udzungwa-mountain-view-hotel/)

Overlooking the agricultural area around Morogoro and rising to over 2600m, the spectacular Uluguru Mountains contain some of the most luxuriant indigenous rainforests in the country. The Uluguru Mountains are part of the Eastern Arc range and are named after the Luguru tribe, a matrilineal group that farms on its verdant slopes. The area has some of the oldest forest in Africa, and because the ecosystem has remained undisturbed by climactic and geographical changes for an estimated 25 million years, hiking in the area is particularly rewarding. A plethora of endemic bird and insect species are found here, but permits are required to reach most of the peaks and permission must be sought in advance.

Day 5: Full day trekking at Udzungwa.

After breakfast early in the morning, you will go for Udzungwa Mountain trekking and visit the Sanje Waterfall. Dinner and Overnight at Udzungwa Mountain View Lodge

Located in Southern Highlands of Tanzania and within the Eastern Arc range, the Udzungwa Mountain is an immaculate forest-cloaked wilderness whose 1900 square kilometers are among the most bio diverse on earth. Velvet monkeys play high in the forest canopy, and small forest antelope can be viewed at the right time of day. Botanical diversity is exceptional, and the park is host to a large number of endangered bird species. Views from the peaks of the mountains, towards the Selous Game Reserve and the distant Indian Ocean coast, are incredible and well worth the effort.  The Udzungwa Mountains offer you the opportunity to view several species of primates and endangered birds in a beautiful African rain forest. Five distinct trails cover the forests and mountain peaks within the park, and offer varying levels of difficulty for everyone from novices to experienced trekkers. Better yet, there are no roads through the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, so hikers have the area all to themselves.

Day 6: Udzungwa/ Ruaha

Drive to Ruaha via Kitonga Gorge and Iringa town. It is a 5 hours drive through a tarmacked road. Upon arrival at the late afternoon visit a Maasai village, overnight at Tungamalenga camp (http://www.ruahatungacamp.com/)

Ruaha National Park Covering a conservation area of 10,300 square km in the south-west of the country, sprawls within and along the Great Rift Valley, covering a unique transition zone where the eastern and southern species of both fauna and flora meet against a dramatic topographical backdrop. This is also one of the few Tanzanian parks where sightings of the rarer antelopes, such as the Sable, the Roan and both lesser & Greater Kudu, are a probability rather than a possibility. The proliferation of plains game in the park also ensures that the larger predators - leopard and large prides of lion - are unusually active. The bird life, too, is unparalleled with some 530 species recorded.

Day 7: Full Day Ruaha game drive

After breakfast, you will drive towards the Mwayembe Springs, through thick comiphora / combretum woodland, and the rocky hills of Kinyatupa... home to the elusive Lesser Kudu.  You proceed to the open floodplains which surround the springs, where, if we are lucky, you may find Cheetahs. We pause for a while at the springs, to watch as animals constantly come to quench their thirst and bath in the water, before continuing on your way to cross the Mwagusi River, you will pass through a grove of 'Wild Fig' trees, then through 'Jackleberry' woodland, and on, past the sight of the first headquarters, built in the Park in 1964, and onwards to the camp for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will follow a track along the escarpment foothills, across some tributaries to rejoin the Mwagusi upstream.  You will pass through 'Sausage' and 'Rain' tree woodland, an area you are particularly likely to spot leopards, it is also considered a favorite hunting ground for the Mbagi pride of Lions.  With a drink in hand, and a breathtaking view of the wide river, you stop to view the beautiful scenery as the sun drops behind the 'Palm' trees. Overnight at Ruaha Hilltop lodge.

Day 8: Full Day Ruaha game drive

You will spend the entirety of the day at the park, where you will do various activities such as game drives and enjoy an evening drink while observing the sunset. Overnight at Ruaha Hilltop lodge.

Day 9: Ruaha/ Mufindi (Old Farm House)

From Ruaha you will drive to Mufindi Iringa and stop at Old Farm House (http://www.kisolanza.com/), Kisolanza where you will have dinner and overnight.

The Old Farm House, Kisolanza is a guest house and campsite centrally located in the heart of the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. Perfectly situated just a km from the road the farm offers peace, tranquility and an ideal setting for a night’s stay. The lodge is situated just off the main Tanzania Zambia highway and provides easy access tea estates of Mufindi. It is located 51 Km from Iringa town in the North and 255 Km from Mbeya town in the South. The Old Farm House specializes in accommodation from bush camping to beautifully designed farm house cottages with open log fires!

Day 10: Mufindi (Old Farm House)/ Mbeya

After breakfast you will head to Mbeya town only 255 Km from the Old farm House. On arrival at Mbeya you will visit Ngozi Crater Lake. Return to Mbeya for dinner and overnight at the Utengule coffe lodge.

The Ngozi Crater Lake is located in the east of Mporoto Ridge Forest Reserve. The forest reserve has an area of about 9332 hectares, and is located at 8058'-90 05'S and 33026'-33036'E with altitudes ranging from 1750-2620 m. The crater is roughly 15 km southeast of the city of Mbeya. It is accessible by a dirt road in the dry season, in the wet season it can be a bit difficult. The lake is reached by a one-hour hike through the forest.

This stunning lake is located in a caldera, which is 2.5 km long and 1.6 km wide. The crater dates from some time in the Neogene period. The water is slightly blackish, contains some fish, and is up to 75 m deep. The lake has spiritual significance for the local inhabitants. The slopes of the crater wall are covered by Upper Montane Forest, grassland and bamboo trees. A caldera is a roughly circular depression formed by the collapse of a magma chamber roof onto its magma body beneath. It is a large rounded depression resulting from the destruction of a volcano in a violent eruption. When returning from Lake Ngozi you will visit some Coffee farms in the area.

Day 11: Mbeya/ Katavi

From Mbeya you will drive to Katavi National park, a 10 and half hours’ drive, arrive for dinner and overnight at  Chada Katavi Camp.

Isolated, untrammeled and seldom visited, Katavi National Park is a true wilderness, providing the few intrepid souls who make it there with a thrilling taste of Africa as it must have been a century ago. Tanzania's third largest national park, it lies in the remote southwest of the country, within a truncated arm of the Rift Valley that terminates in the shallow, brooding expanse of Lake Rukwa.

The bulk of Katavi supports a hypnotically featureless cover of tangled brachystegia woodland, home to substantial but elusive populations of the localized eland, sable and roan antelopes. But the main focus for game viewing within the park is the Katuma River and associated floodplains such as the seasonal Lakes Katavi and Chada. During the rainy season, these lush, marshy lakes are a haven for myriad waterbirds, and they also support Tanzania’s densest concentrations of hippo and crocodile.

Day 12: Full day at Katavi

Full day game drive in Katavi National Park. It is one of the most difficult Parks to reach and is strictly for those of an adventurous spirit. It rewards the intrepid traveler with excellent game viewing with a real wilderness atmosphere. You can also enjoy walking safaris in the park and those with good cameras are guaranteed to capture some of the most amazing wildlife and landscape photos. Dinner and overnight at chada Katavi camp.

Day 13: Full day at Katavi

You will spend the entirety of the day in Katavi and undertake various activities such as game drives and enjoy the wonderful sunset in the evening with the sounds of singing birds and grunts of the African cape buffaloes that are very prevalent in the park. Day 14: Katavi/ Kigoma

Wake up early for pre-dawn brief tour before breakfast. After the tour you will have breakfast and then drive north to Kigoma for overnight at kigoma hill top hotel (http://www.mbalimbali.com/kigoma-hilltop-hotel-mbali-mbali)

Day 15: Kigoma/ Mahale

After breakfast our driver will take you to the Port of Kigoma where you will catch a boat to Mahale National Park. At this point you will be handed over to the boat company who will be with you for the next two days. The boat will take you to Mahale and wait for you till you finish your activities in Mahale and will take you back to Kigoma on day 16. Overnight at Greystoke Mahale.

Mahale Mountains National Park sets deep in the heart of the African interior, inaccessible by road and only 100km (60 miles) south of where Stanley uttered that immortal greeting “Doctor Livingstone, I presume”, is a scene reminiscent of an Indian Ocean island beach idyll.

Silky white coves hem in the azure waters of Lake Tanganyika, overshadowed by a chain of wild, jungle-draped peaks towering almost 2km above the shore: the remote and mysterious Mahale Mountains.

Mahale Mountains is home to some of Africa’s last remaining wild chimpanzees: a population of roughly 800 (only 60 individuals forming what is known as "M group"), habituated to human visitors by a Japanese research project founded in the 1960s. Tracking the chimps of Mahale is a magical experience. The guide's eyes pick out last night's nests - shadowy clumps high in a gallery of trees crowding the sky. Scraps of half-eaten fruit and fresh dung become valuable clues, leading deeper into the forest. Butterflies flit in the dappled sunlight.

Day 16: Full day Chimpanzee tracking in Mahale

Spend the day in the dense forest walking and tracking chimpanzees. It is such an exhilarating experience. The chimpanzees can be spotted on the trees or even on the ground. There are also various species of birds in the Mahale forest, just make sure you grab your binoculars for the ultimate experience. Overnight at Mahale Bandas OR Campsite

Day 17: Mahale/ Kigoma

In the morning you will do a little of tracking and walking in the forest, have breakfast then you will take a boat to Kigoma for overnight at Kigoma hill top hotel (http://www.mbalimbali.com/kigoma-hilltop-hotel-mbali-mbali/)

Day 18: Kigoma/ Dar

Transfer to the Kigoma airport for your flight to Dar-es-salaam.

Day 19: Flight back home

Take your flight back home.
