Dirt in the Savanna
Overview
This is a very adventurous Safari. It involves riding through the tough terrains of North Tanzania and getting that African dirt all over you. It is bound to get your adrenaline pumping and just to add the ice on the cake guests get to visit the iconic National Parks of Northern Tanzania namely, Mkomazi, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the Arusha National Park.

Day 1: Arrival /Kilimanjaro international Airport /Overnight Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet our driver cum guide who will be waiting at the arrivals lounge holding a placard written your names. The driver will greet you and help you load your luggage into the car and drive you to Rivertrees country inn.
Day 2: Arusha/ride to Mkomazi/ overnight at mkomazi
In the morning after breakfast, the driver will pick you up from the hotel and you will head to Arusha town where you will do some shopping of your necessary requirements, then you will hop onto your motorbikes and commence on your rough road adventure down the old Moshi road to Nelson Mandela University junction, where you will change course and take on the Mbuguni road that goes through magnificent flat fields with few mining hills, this road crosses the only Tanzanite mining sites in the world, now you can cross that off your bucket list, in addition you will be rewarded with unique dust twister encounters.
Continue the ride through Hoihoi village to Nyumba ya Mungu basin, that holds the largest man made water reservoir in Norhern Tanzania region. Ride along its shores through fishermen villages before getting back on the road.
Ride down the rough road that leads to Kisangani junction where you will change course and proceed with B2 highway to Same (40 Kms). At Same, leave the highway and head straight to Mkomazi National Park (1 Km), where you will have dinner and overnight at Mkomazi Campsite. On this day you will cover approxiomately 200kms of rough road and 40kms of tarmacked road.
Day3: Mkomazi/ Mbaga/Gonja Maore/Ndungu /Vuje villages/ Overnight at Hedaru
In the morning after you will have a game drive in Mkomazi National park and later you will have your breakfast. Later around 10am after your breakfast you will get onto your motorbikes and ride to Pare mountains via Mbaga, Gonja, Maore, Ndungu, Vuje villages. Dinner and overnight at Hedaru at a moderate hotel or a guest house. On this gay you will cover approximately 30kms of rough road and 20kms tarmacked road.
Day 4: Hedaru/Naberera
In the morning after breakfast you will ride all the way to Naberere. You will cross the Pangani River and ride through the amazing Maasai Steppe, riding all the way through to woodland. Dinner and overnight at Rotiana ranch. Today you will ride approximately 195kms of rough road.
Day 5: Naberera/ Tarangire/overnight at Kigongoni
In the morning after breakfast you will embark on a ride to Tarangire. Today you will drive through maasai villages with a combination of game and domestic animals until you arrive at Tarangire national park where you will disembark from your motorebikes at Kigongoni campsite and do a tour of tarangire national park and finally dinner overnight at Kigongoni. Today you will cover a total of 183kms of rough road and 20kms of tarmac road.
Day 6: Kigongoni/ Magara escarpment/Mbulu/Karatu
In the morning you will depart to Karatu via Magara escarpment and Mbulu countryside.
From Tarangire ride to Makuyuni junction and proceed along the highway to Mguu wa Mjerumani junction where you will take a turn up the Magara escarpment. You will ride up its cliff side road that takes you up to the clouds – “literally” – the fog filled cliff will give you a sensational feeling as though you were ascending to the clouds. At the top, you will also be awarded by a panoramic view of the rift valley on one side and Ngorongoro highlands on the other side, this unique view will keep hold all the way to Mbulu. From Mbulu proceed to Karatu through its dusty red roads that passe through endless corn and Wheat farms that extends up and down the Mbulu Hills. This beautiful hilly countryside is one of coldest places in Tanzania and has the harshest roads, so gear up for the challenge. At Karatu ride down a 10Kilometres tarmac road that leads you to Ngorongoro Dofa Camp where you will spend the overnight. Today you will cover a total of 183kms of rough road and 30kms of tarmacked.
Day 7: Karatu/Ngorongoro/ selela/Engaruka/Lake Natron
In the morning after breakfast you will hop into the safari jeep and descend down the Ngorongoro crater. You will have your packed lunch with you as you do a game drive around the crater. In The afternoon ascend to the top, you will get onto your motorbikes and proceed to Lake Natron via Engaruka. The ride will be through the rift valley floor and will definitely have you bow before Mother Nature’s beauty as you Maneuver around the trenches, river basins, flood plains and partly eroded hills all along your way to Natron.
Starting gently from Manyara trough the Maasai plains, the ride will pass through a game controlled area with a frequent encounter of animals such as Gazelles, Zebras, Wildebeests, Ostriches and others. Your day will end with a magnificent view of Oldoinyo Lengai Mountain and the Ngorongoro Hills as you slope down the startling Great East African Rif Valley Escarpment to Natron. Upon arrival in Natron, leave your bikes and belongings at the Natron Campsite then stretch up your worked off legs up the Engare Sero River to the waterfalls – with a Maasai guide. Later in the evening descend back to the camp for dinner and overnight at Lake Natron campsite. Today you will cover a total of 103kms of rough road and 47kms of tarmacked road.
Day 8: Full day at Natron
Wake up early in the morning to witness Africa waking up, as the golden rays of the sun kisses down on the Lake Natron and its immense waters; the view is definitely worth a thousand photos. Also, spend some time appreciating the unmeasurable beauty of the landscapes around, take pictures while enjoying beautiful tunes from the morning birds.
You will spend the Full day at Lake Natron riding to Pinyinyi, returning early evening in time to take Sunset pictures at the lake. Overnight at Lake Natron Campsite.
Day 9: Natron/Kitumbaine/Momela
After breakfast, start your ride to Momella passing through The Teves junction, Kitumbaine and Gilaibomba mountains. Extending all the way from Natron to Momella, your ride will be through rough and harsh terrains and sand pits. Riding around Kitumbaine and Glaibomba, the view and experience will make you want to stay more but don’t worry, the fun won’t end there, you have yet another wonder of beauty awaiting you at Momela, a Lake timing with pink flamingos that offers a magnificent view of both Kilimanjaro and Meru Mountain peaks, its imminent that the day won’t have an ordinary ending. Dinner and overnight at Momela campsite. Today you will cover a total of 260kms of rough road and 30kms of tarmacked road.
Day 10: Momela/Arusha/ Kilimanjaro International Airport
After breakfast, ride to Arusha via Leguruki, Kirungu, King’ori and Kikatiti towns. The ride will cross between the foots of Kilimanjaro and Meru Mountains – with a clear visibility it is most likely you will to see both mountain peaks, half way on the ride you can take a nice Panorama picture of it. Today’s ride is mostly a farewell ride; you will be looking at everything twice as a gesture of goodbye. At Arusha you will park the bikes and then dress up for departure.
Drive to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home departing at 17:35 hrs. today you will cover a total of 65kms rough road and 45kms tarmacked road.
