Best 6 days Kilimanjaro hiking tour via Machame route in 2023 and 2024

Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

On the first day we start from Arusha  Town or Moshi Kilimanjaro to Machame Gate. After registration at Machame Gate, we begin to hike Kilimanjaro from there to Machame Camp.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

After breakfast on the second day, we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending way, crossing the valley along a steep, rocky ridge. The route now turns west into a river gorge until we arrive at the Shira camp.

Day 3: Shira camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Valley

Trekker(s) and team walk on a gentle ascent with panoramic views. We will traverse the southwest side of Kilimanjaro, passing underneath the Lava Tower and the final section of the Western Breach, and after a hot lunch at the bottom of the Lava Tower, then we descend to the bottom of Barranco Valley.

Day 4: Bafaru camp to Barranco camp

On this day, we leave Barranco after breakfast and continue on a steep ridge up the Barranco wall, through the Karanga Valley, to the junction, which connects with the Mweka route. We continue up to the Barafu Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Uhuru Peak, down to Mweka Camp

From midnight to 2:00 a.m, the trekker(s) and the team will continue hiking towards the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. Once at Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro! We will descend to Mweka Camp for an overnight stay and dinner

Day 6: Mweka Gate to Arusha Town or Moshi

After breakfast on the last day, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. Our driver will meet you at Mweka Gate and drive you back to your booked hotel in Arusha or Moshi.
