Arrival and Transfer to Arusha or Moshi
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to Arusha or Moshi. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the town or relax at your hotel. Then, you'll meet with your guide for a briefing on the climb.
Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
After breakfast, you'll be driven to the Marangu Gate, the starting point of your climb. After completing the necessary registration formalities, you'll begin your trek through the rainforest to the Mandara Hut (2,700m). The trek takes about 3-4 hours and you'll have plenty of time to rest and acclimatize at the hut.
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
After breakfast, you'll begin your trek towards the Horombo Hut. The trail passes through the heathland and moorland vegetation zones, offering stunning views of the Kilimanjaro summit and the surrounding landscape. The trek takes about five to six hours and you'll arrive at the Horombo Hut in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Horombo Hut to Mawenzi Hut to Horombo Hut
This extra day is used for acclimatization, we trek towards to Mawenzi Hut and back. The unique landscape offers motivating views of Kibo and Mawenzi.
Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Today's trek takes you to the Kibo Hut, the base camp for the summit attempt. The trail passes through the alpine desert zone and the landscape becomes increasingly barren as you ascend towards the summit. The trek takes about 6-8 hours and you'll arrive at the Kibo Hut in the late afternoon.
Day 5: Summit day
Wake up at midnight for a light breakfast and start the final ascent to the summit of Kilimanjaro. Reach Uhuru Peak above sea level, the highest point in Africa, just in time for sunrise. Descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate and Departure
After breakfast, descend to Marangu Gate, receive your certificate of achievement, and say goodbye to your guide and porters. Transfer back to your hotel in Arusha for a hot shower and rest before departure.
